Typical Applications of Magnesium Oxide:
- Phosphorous removal
- Phophorous reuse
- Struvite production
- Wastewater effluent treatment
Magnesium oxide is an effective chemical for the retrieval of phosphorous from wastewater effluent. Under appropriate conditions, the addition of magnesium and ammonia to wastewater forms magnesium ammonium phosphate (MAP). MAP is a compound known as Struvite that can be used as a slow-releasing, long-acting fertilizer.
